MARY-ANN NIKTAS MATHEOU

SENIOR pLANNER

Mary-Ann Matheou has a background in planning, environmental health, sustainability, and program development. She takes a holistic approach to planning, considering the various factors that make up and impact a community.

Mary-Ann has been with M-Group since 2018 working in both development review and policy planning for various jurisdictions in the Bay Area. Her experience encompasses a range of tasks, including day-to-day and long-term responsibilities, as well as the management of development reviews, permit updates, grant writing, general plans, specific plans, and other long-range policy documents. She is detail-oriented and aims to have clear communication with the agencies for which she works.

Mary-Ann holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Urban Studies with minors in Sustainability and Anthropology and a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in Environmental Health Sciences, all from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining M-Group, Mary-Ann worked as a Planning Intern at the City of Campbell, where she created a Conditional Use Permit Inventory. She also worked as the Sustainability Programs Assistant at Santa Clara University, where she developed, marketed, and managed campus sustainability programs. This involved graphic design, behavioral analysis, and initiatives related to energy, water, waste, and transportation.  Mary-Ann’s diverse professional and academic backgrounds highlight her interest in the interdisciplinary aspects of planning, allowing her to approach her projects from various stakeholder and client perspectives.

Outside of work, Mary-Ann enjoys spending time with family, exploring new places, and visiting both new and tried-and-true restaurants.
